The main purpose of the hospital's activities is to carry out, as determined by the courts, compulsory treatment of mentally ill people who have committed socially dangerous acts and who, by their mental state and the nature of what they have done, pose a special danger to society, who need hospital maintenance and treatment under strict supervision. The structure of the hospital has a hospital with 280 beds, consisting of three male departments for compulsory treatment of mental patients. The activity of the institution is regulated by: the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the Law of the Republic of Belarus of June 18, 1993 "On Health Care", the Law of the Republic of Belarus of January 7, 2012 "On the provision of psychiatric care", the Resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus of April 18, 2001 No. 26 "On the organization of compulsory treatment of mentally ill with strict and enhanced supervision", Resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus No. 56 dated June 26, 2013 "On the provision of psychiatric care in the application of compulsory security measures and treatment", other acts of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus and the internal labor regulations of the state institution "Republican Psychiatric Hospital Gaytunishki". The higher organization is the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.
